NEAT gathers momentum at CES show.

Neat's re-entry into the USA via the CES show at the Ventian Hotel in Las Vegas was a significant success, with many industry figures expressing their admiration for a range of new Neat models which were making their US debut.

Jonathan Valin of The Absolute Sound nominated the Ultimatum XL10 (left) as runner-up in his 'Best Of Show' awards.

" Neat Acoustics of Great Britain was showing its $25k Ultimatum XL10 floorstander, driven by c-j electronics. In a show that positively stomped on the bass pedal, the XL10 was

a wonderful surprise - extremely natural in timbre, texture, and balance, with no darkness or grain, even on bass-heavy cuts like the

Blue Tofu. "

Our grateful thanks to the folks from Runing Springs Audio, Conrad Johnson, and Paul Manos of High Fidelity Services, for their support.

Iota loudspeaker launched at Manchester show.

The new Neat Iota loudspeaker received a tremendous reception from visitors when it was

launched at the Manchester Home Entertainment

show over the weekend.

This is a super-micro design of only 2.6 litres internal volume, weighing less than 4Kg. It can be used close to the wall in situations where space is limited, yet it offers a world-class performance of astonishing scale and dynamics previously unavailable in a speaker of this size or price.

A dedicated slimline stand will be available, and the Iota is also suitable for mounting on wall brackets or bookshelves (using isolation cones underneath the speaker).

The Iota will be available in a variety of satin-finish colours, and the first production samples should be shipping in December.

New Ultimatum loudspeaker reviews:

First review of the Ultimatum XLS loudspeaker.

A firm thumbs-up from Martin Colloms, writing in the UK magazine, 'HiFi Critic'.  Here, Mr. Colloms awards the XLS a coveted 'HiFi Critic Recommended Product' rating, commenting that "the Ultimatum XLS played well beyond any expectations that its modest physical dimensions might suggest, and is so accurate and friendly to the ears that a confident recommendation is assured."

Collectable Ultimatum XL6

The annual Hi Fi Choice "Collection" contains a selection of the very best audio equipment from around the world. The venerable Ultimatum MF9 made it into an earlier edition, and this year sees the inclusion of the new Ultimatum XL6, together with a glowing review of its abilities;

"That is the real beauty of this design: the amount of information that is relevant to the music it reveals is unreservedly compelling."

Enjoy The Music!

Online magazine "enjoythe music.com" have featured a wonderful review of the Ultimatum XLS by Malcolm Steward.

"They simply blend all the vital attributes necessary to present music in the most plausible and engaging manner one can imagine."

Our thanks to Malcolm for his review.

Ultimatum XLi launched at Munich High End Show 2011.

The new floorstanding Ultimatum XLi received very warm praise from visitors at this prestigious show.

The XLi is a partner to the standmount XLS model, released earlier this year. For listeners enjoying the astonishing performance of the XLS, but preferring not to have a standmounted speaker in the home environment, the XLi is essentially the same ingredients in a more aesthetically pleasing form.

The XLi will be available from July 2011.

March 2011

Ultimatum XLS debuts at Bristol Sound & Vision.

The latest Ultimatum model to receive the 'XL' upgrades has made its first public appearance.

The Ultimatum XLS, an improved version of the award-winning MFS model, created quite a stir at February's S&V show, delivering a performance which was judged by visitors to be superior to many much larger and more costly designs at the show.

The XLS features a birch plywood cabinet, isobaric bass loading, membrane-coupled baffles, Sonomex domed tweeter, upward-firing super tweeters and a revised crossover.

This latest addition to the next generation of Ultimatum loudspeakers will be shipping in April 2011.

December 2010

Another 5 stars for the Motive 2.

The Motive 2 speaker has received yet another 5-star review in the January issue of What Hi Fi magazine. In conjunction with the entry level Naim 5i CD player and Amplifier, the Motives were judged to demonstrate

"the weight and authority of a full-size floorstander at the same time as the manoeuvrabilityand rhythmic eloquence of a superior standmounter... the balance between full-on intensity, lucidity and organisation is beautifully judged."

Ultimatum XL6 now shipping!

The XL6 received a very warm reponse at Milan's Top-Audio show in September.

This is the first of an exciting new breed of Ultimatum loudspeakers. It incorporates some subtle yet highly effective innovations including a new implementation of the EMIT super tweeters, the sub-bass arrangement as used in the top-of-range MF9 model, a new soft dome tweeter and a revised plinth & spike arrangement.

The Ultimatum XL6 is a domestically friendly 98cm tall, yet it is capable of of great power and delicacy when required. The first demonstration stocks wil be reaching dealers and distributors during October and November.

SHIPPING SOON....

MOTIVE SE2

The exciting new Motive SE2 loudspeaker is a special edition of the regular Motive 2, transforming it into a discreet and compact design with serious audio credentials. (It will not replace the standard Motive 2, which continues in production.)

The SE2 incorporates several significant upgrades, notably the use of the EMIT planar magnetic tweeter, which is compliantly mounted within its own discrete volume to minimise the effects of vibration and rear pressure from the main drive unit. A new crossover and bass tuning alignment are employed and the cabinet features improved internal bracing and damping.

The Motive SE2 is extremely revealing without being overtly analytical, and it paints a huge sonic picture, making it the perfect solution for those seeking a superior musical experience from a compact and stylish package.

The MOTIVE SE2 will be available from mid-June 2010

"Unerringly musical and consummately enjoyable, this loudspeaker is an essential audition for rhythm seekers."

The Petite SX is also reviewed in glowing terms in the current issue of Hi Fi Plus magazine;

"Indeed, there is something almost uncanny about the musicality of Neat's designs. They exhibit a natural rightness and a musically persusive quality that seems to elude 99 per cent of all others in my view."

October 2009

PETITE SX

Twenty years ago, the first prototype samples of a new compact standmount loudspeaker were fired up, in the back room of Neat's retail premises; North Eastern Audio Traders.

It was christened the Neat PETITE, and rapidly became a benchmark for musical communication.

In the intervening years it's undergone a number of improvements and refinements. The latest incarnation, the PETITE SX (above)

is now shipping worldwide.

Momentum 3i in What Hi Fi Sound & Vision

Another 5-star review for Neat in the June issue of the biggest-selling UK Hi Fi magazine. This time it's the Momentum 3i collecting the honours;

"A fast, dynamic and massively enjoyable sound....the Momentum 3is have a deeply impressive bass performance. It is taut and punches with a ferocity you'd scarcely credit from a box that stands just 38cm high....the Momentum 3is are as musical as they come"

What Hi Fi June 2008.

January 2008

Neat speakers featured in a What Hi Fi? system test this month (using Naim’s entry level pre-power amps and a CD5X cd player), winning 5 stars in the context of an overall 5-star system score.

Naim Audio specifically requested Neat loudspeakers for this review and this result again confirms the widely held view that Neat and Naim are a winning combination. Of course, there are other electronics available which also give superb results when partnered with Neat loudspeakers….

Gathering Momentum....

The Momentum 3i standmount loudspeaker has received an excellent ‘Best Buy’ review in the current (November) issue of Hi-Fi Choice magazine. This glowing review judges that the Momentum 3i is

“brilliant at delivering all manner of delicate and subtle details deep down into the mix, making music much more human and believable.”

It concludes “A superbly informative and dynamic design with all the virtues of a high-class standmount, that also delivers the bass weight and authority of a floorstander.  It’s a very realistic musical communicator at a very realistic price.”

The Momentum 4i floorstander has also been reviewed by Hi-Fi World magazine, winning a 4-globe recommendation;

“The Momentum 4is turn in an accomplished performance. They incorporate some well though-out and innovative technologies and the musical aptitude of their designer shines through in many aspects of their performance.”

 “For anyone wanting a stylish, well designed and constructed floorstander with superb bass weight and an atmospheric nature, the Momentum 4is should definitely be on the audition list.”

Watch out for further Momentum reviews in Hi-Fi Plus and Hi-Fi Critic magazines over the coming weeks.

Naim SUPERNAIT amplifier and Neat MOTIVE 1s; a marriage made in heaven - it's official!

The first published review of Naim Audio's new Supernait amp has appeared in the June issue of Hi Fi Choice magazine. Malcolm Steward (who also wrote the very first review of the Neat Petite loudspeaker in 1991), used a pair of Motive 1 speakers to put the Supernait through its paces.

He concludes that "it turned out to be a marriage made in heaven. Each product gelled with the other to form what proved to be an intensely satisfying and dynamic musical joint venture....the Supernait and the Neats seemed able to dig deeper still into the music and get to those telling, often quite deeply submerged, nuances with immeasurable dexterity."

There has always been tremendous synergy between Naim electronics and Neat loudspeakers. We look forward to getting some hands-on experience with the Supernait in the near future.
